University of Chicago bio-chem student & rising-Senior Austin Hudson-LaPore went missing while watching a rare storm depart the Chicago area, on the night of June 12th, 2013.
Austin's family was unsure as to the direction their loved one had taken, that night. He left both his smart-phone and his wallet behind on his kitchen table fearing they would get wet in the storm.
K-9 Specialties Rob Larson and his K9 Captain Dexter offered to track the missing man's footsteps and found they led directly to Promontory Point Park, on Chicago's South Side.
This allowed the Chicago authorities, media and Austin's family to concentrate their search for him, along the shores of Lake Michigan.
8 days after he disappeared, Austin's body was found floating in the lake by a local fisherman who stayed with him until authorities could retrieve him.
In November, at a special memorial service at the University of Chicago's Rockefeller Chapel, Austin's family honored the 3 individuals & search organizations who helped bring Austin home.
Trainer Rob Larson and Captain Dexter of K9 Specialties were one of them.
